He was the first, the first of mine. Of course he was more than beautiful, by the way so much grace
was so often glowing from him. But in fact, grace was living inside his heart. And his heart was really as
wide as the whole universe.
For he belonged to the faraway universe, and not only to our little earth : he was a star - and a real
star, like those you can marvel at during a starlit night.
He was the star of my home.
The starlight of his presence was enlightening my home every day. The love that was shining from his
body was softening my life day by day.
He was the star of my home.
And like stars, he was often above us all, looking at us with benevolence as a wise patriarch.

Of course he was loving us all, and any one who could visit us. But I noticed quickly how much he
enjoyed dogs, at least gentle ones. He seemed to be one of them ! He always showed a lot of
benevolence for any of my dogs, and he never hesitated to face danger to protect them if he
considered that they needed help. He seemed to be their toy but in fact he played very well the
worried one !

But you know, no one can reach a star. When he wanted not to be annoyed, he simply jumped to the
sky again, he knew that there he couldn't be caught. However, from one of his skies or near us on the
ground, he was always shining for us all.

Unfortunately, all things must past, and some day this star of mine was called to leave us. A light went
out in my home. A gap appeared. It seemed that somewhere in my home his place was preserved, as
if we still waited for his return.
For a star never die, it only changes galaxy. So there's no doubt that he's still shining somewhere
inside the infinite universe. And what if some day he would be meant to change galaxy once again,
and to come back in ours ? Would he remember then that my home still misses a lucky star and that
we all long for his benevolent light above us ? And would he still remember that he's a star destined
for dogs ?

For Sirius, cat by trade, was called after a star. And this star, named Sirius in French and Dog Star in
English, belongs to the Great Dog Constellation.
