                                                                                               CAVE CANEM

"Cave canem" would be easily the best enjoyed maxim of my dear Fango.
For Fango is like water - you know, still waters run deep. Fango doesn't like at all that someone treads on his toes. Of course,
he feels the same if some of his family is annoyed.
Like a lot of dogs, Fango is really able to know when there's something in the wind. His is so a valuable helper for me to take
the wind out of their sails - the sails of those who are crying wolf ..., although they are themselves wolves in sheep's clothings !
Of course neither me nor Fango are used to sail close the wind, neither him nor me are of those who throw caution to the wind :
like me, Fango is a very thoughtful one. And he knows his way around. He often wants his own way, but isn't it simply the price of
his so strong -and nice - character ?
For Fango is really an angel on earth, in spite of his few faults ... He certainly knows that curiosity killed the cat, but isn't it useful
too to see which way the cat jumps ? He has his way or obeys dead slow, but isn't it so because he is a very thoughtful and
responsible dog ? For Fango is not all of those who are dead from the neck up : he is rather dead clever !
Fango is not only a strong character with fortitude, but he is stocky enough too. Nothing under the sun could be going to stop
him if he must protect one of his own. It seems that the sky is the limit when he's working hard.
They who try to pick a quarrel with Fango but also with one of his own, will have their work cut out with him. Come hell or high
water, Fango is fighting as much as necessary. So they've been warned ! As everyone knows, it never rains but it pours - but isn't
right that every cloud has a silver lining ? They can even throw one of their own to the wolves to get their way, Fango will try his
best to make them get into hot water, and when they are up a tree, he will just have a ghost of a smile ! Or perhaps would he
enjoy to murmur softly : "
Cave canem !"

But "Cave canem" could also be the maxim of some other dogs of mine, especially my Kuvaszes, of course, but too Gidan and
Fango's offspring.
Gidan conjugates the "
Cave canem" phrase with a slightly different mood than Fango does ; for Gidan is smaller enough than
his chief, but if he doesn't give the impression of strength like Fango, he has too a lot going for him. He has quick wits - and he
could easily told that he is a crafty devil !
Of course he knows perfectly well too that curiosity killed the cat, but he argues that this strange old world doesn't concern him
at all because he is a dog. And as he says, every dog has his day.
So there are no flies on my dear Gidan. He always knows everything. Is the word on the street that some acquaintance of his
could let the cat out of the bag if he has a way with him ? Gidan is immediately trying ! He can easily be a windbag or raise the
rafters but behind all this he always manages to know as much things as possible.
Does someone try to thwart him ? He is able to raise Cain !

Gidan is a real intelligence agent while Fango is rather a dog of action. His name suits him very well, because it reminds of a
French word that means "spirited". Names are very important things, you know, "Give a dog a bad name (and hang him)". Fango
is the chief who decides and acts, while his friend Gidan, who isn't at all in Fango's light, is a  valuable helper in any case.
Is someone still wanting to annoy us ?
Red sky at night, shepherd's delight, chant in chorus Fango and Gidan.
Then the mischievous Gidan can't help whispering : "
Cave canem !"
Isn't it so ?
