09/09/06 - 15/10/06
sound, and I recognized quickly Gidan. Gidan is the "intelligence agent" of my home, he always knows everything, and before anyone, and
unusual sound from him could only mean unusual situation. Although I wasn't completely awake, I realized immediately that the delivery
had begun, Snasha is generally silent for that. So I got up quickly to go and see her, letting Gidan behind the closed door - if Gidan always
knows everything about everything, it must be said that he's always around when something is happening, and of course he would have
wanted to be there during the delivery, but Snasha could have been disturbed. But - and of course - Gidan was perfectly right, the delivery
had begun, the first pup was already born. Although Snasha could finish the whole delivery without me, without help, I stayed near her and I
could see and note - and weigh and take photos - after each birth.
Then I could open the door and Gidan hurried up to the playpen. Of course Snasha didn't agree, but Gidan didn't accept to stay at a distance
before he had seen enough the pups. All the day long he stayed near the playpen, not to near so Snasha didn't groan or bark against him,
but not far too. And when Snasha went in the garden during a few minutes, Gidan and I could see and touch the pups quietly ...
and me - we could see and touch the pups. Every morning, I weighed them, taking them one by one from the basket inside the playpen.
Gidan but also the A-s, as I called the 3 A-brothers, liked very much see and smell the pups. Fango generally prefers when the pups are
older. I began to take the basket with the pups out of the playpen to put it on the floor, so the other dogs could easily see and smell the
pups. From the 17/09/06, every morning I put the pups in another basket, and I walked with this basket inside my house, just during a few
minutes.
Bocquefeuille was open, nothing for the others, but in the evening (always 21/09), Brevillenne's eyes were both open. The following day, in
the morning, the 2 bitches and Borkye had both eyes open, nothing for the others, but in the evening (always 22/09), the 2 eyes of Brehael
were open. Brinskhi's eyes began to open on the 23/09. From the 21/09, instead of walking with the basket in my hand (and the pups
inside), I put the basket on a little trolley that I pushed during a few minutes.
On the 25/09, I saw a pup standing up for his droppings, and I saw too Borkye sitting down.
others did the same too. I noticed on the 27/09/06 in the evening that they woke up to a tinkling noise (that I made especially), this for the
first time. When I took the basket out of the playpen and put it on the floor near it, the pups came out but they soon slept again on the carpet.
On the 28/09, in the morning, while they were already out of the playpen, I put an open carrier box in front of them, they all came inside and
stayed there to sleep, so I put the box in the playpen with the sleeping pups. I did the same again the following mornings. On the 29/09,
Bocquefeuille was playing with the hanging balls, but it's only on the 30/09 that I noticed that they were playing a lot with each other, silently,
inside their basket (tussle).
On the 30/09/06, at noon, the weather was so fine that I took their basket with the whole litter from their playpen to the garden, where their
mother and the A-s were at this time. The pups weren't really looking too cheery, they didn't try to come out of their basket, and they slept
again quickly. In the evening, inside their playpen, they saw the A-s coming to them, Brinskhi went to them too, so I took him out of the
playpen, and the A-s touched and smelled him while his was in my hands. When I put him again in the playpen, he continued to search the
A-s through the grating, and I took him out once again.

out of the box and out of the basket, while the 3 brothers were still sleeping inside the box. In the evening, while his siblings were
sleeping, Brinskhi were alone out of the basket. I put my hand inside the playpen to give him caresses on the back, then I returned him
on his back to make caresses on his belly, he let me do as I wanted, he really seemed to like ! I stopped a few minutes later, but
Brinskhi seemed not to want to stop !
Every day I put the basket out of the playpen (while the mother is out), and the pups went out, but they always stayed against the playpen
to sleep all together.
On the 03/10 in the evening, Borkye and Brinskhi began to lap up a little -just a little - the milk I gave.
quickly, while the others stayed inside the basket to play together. Brehael walked curiously all around the playpen, and then a little farther.
Later, the other pups came out of the basket, but only Bocquefeuille and Brehael went far enough of both the basket and the playpen. I was
sitting near them, on a little bank, Brevillenne wanted to go on me, I took her on my knees, then Brinskhi wanted to do the same, and the 2
pups slept together on my knees, while Brehael and Borkye were sleeping too near the playpen, and Bocquefeuille was walking farther,
alone. In the evening, Brinskhi ate very well the milk, laping nearly all, while the others didn't really lap.
On the 05/10, in the evening, Brinskhi ate very well, he licked completely the plate but also the milk on the basket and even on his legs, so I
gave him a second plate with milk : he ate all. Brevillenne lapped also a little, but just a little. All the pups, but especially Borkye, walked far
away the playpen and searched to visit the room, they searched too to play with the the A-s (who were already in the room when the mother
was out and so when I took the pups out of the playpen).
On the 06/10, in the morning, I noticed that the pups really wanted that I took them out of the playpen when I came to them, and to make the
mother go outside. From this day, I did the same every day in the morning, at noon, at the end of the afternoon, possibly late in the evening if
they weren't sleeping. The A-s were always with them, and sometimes Gidan, possibly Fango too, while the mother was "at break" in the
garden. On the 06/10, all the pups walked far away from their playpen, in the whole dining-room, but none had followed an adult going from
the dining-room to the kitchen ! But at the end of the afternoon, when I went into the kitchen to prepare the milk, the A-s came with me, and
Borkye went inside the kitchen on about 30 - 40 cm long. All the pups lapped a little, Brevillenne a little more, and Brinskhi a lot.
On 07/10/06, in the morning, all the pups went more or less into the kitchen, Borkye was the more adventurous (and he had a dropping
there). They were trying to eat all the 5 together in the small pink plate, so I gave milk in the green plate with 2 bowls and in the pink one,
and finally, in the evening, I gave milk in the green plate with 3 bowls and the green one with 2 bowls, but of course they didn't eat one pup
in one bowl ... They ate very well, after roaming in the dining-room and the kitchen, and playing with Gidan and the A-s.
At noon, the sun was shining so much that I decided to try to make the pups go outside. The dining-room, where they were born, has a
French window that leads to the garden, while the veranda and the living-room lead to the yard, and the door between garden and yard was
then closed. Snasha was in the garden like every day, I went out to tie her up in such a way that she could approach near the French
window (at about 50 cm far from it), so I expected that the pups would go to her as soon as I would open the French window. But I was
wrong, the pups didn't turn any attention to her, they were so much busy to roam through the dining-room and to play with anything they
could find. Only Borkye and Brehael went near the beginning of the garden, but they stayed inside the room. Later, Borkye tried to venture
into the garden, alone, while his mother was far from the French window, and couldn't be seen, but he turned back quickly. Then, I sat in
front of them, outside, at about 50 cm from the dining-room, while Snasha was behind me. All the pups came to me, but they stayed
against me and didn't try to get farther...
On 08/10/06, I began to make dry food be soaked and then I added milk : they ate.
the French window of the dining-room : several pups tried to go outside, so I let the French window wide open and I went out , then I tied up
Snasha so she couldn't go inside the dining-room : all the B-s and the A-s followed me outside. The pups were going to their mother or to
me, Bocquefeuille tried to suck Snasha several times. Brevillenne preferred to return into the dining-room to play with one of my slippers,
Brinskhi did the same and then slept against the other slipper. Borkye slept outside. Then, I came back in the dining-room and the kitchen
to prepare milk, they followed me, but they didn't ate when I put them into their playpen, they preferred sleeping, in fact they were too tired to
eat.
and the B-s went out immediately, following the A-s, while I was still behind them. Borkye roamed far enough from the dining-room. The
others stayed at about 3-4 m from the French window. I had prepared their food before so I didn't let them wait at all when we came back
home, and they didn't have time to sleep, they ate nearly all - and then they could sleep inside their playpen, with their mother. At the end of
the afternoon, they stayed into the dining-room excepted Borkye, who went even to the first step that leads to the veranda. So I went into the
veranda and called the others, who came but didn't go down the first step. The pups ate all the food, Brinskhi seemed not to have enough.

On the 11/10/06, at noon, while they were in the kitchen, I went inside the veranda and I opened its door, leading to the yard : Brinskhi was
the first to go outside, in the yard. Some pups didn't dare go down the 2 steps from the kitchen to the veranda, I took them and put them in
the veranda, then all went out. Borkye and Brinskhi went away, several meters far from the door, alone, the others stayed near me, and near
the door. They didn't stay long outside, they came back in the veranda and immediately in the kitchen : so there was not the slightest
problem to go up the steps, in fact they were glad to come back in a well-known place ... They stayed outside during about 1/4 hour. In the
end of the afternoon, they played to climb in a folding table with stools. They liked too staying on my knees, but it began to be more and
more too difficult to keep the 5 pups together on my knees.
afternoon, they discovered an new room from the kitchen, the living-room : first Brevillenne, then Brehael, then Borkye, while Brinskhi and
Bocquefeuillle stayed just at the beginning of the living-room. In the evening, they ate all, I tried dry food : they ate nearly nothing.
13/10/06 : At noon, I put a "tunnel" (a simple cardboard box, open) in the veranda doorway, that door was kept wide open ; the pups had to
go through the "tunnel" to go in the yard, where I went to make them come to me. All went through the "tunnel" without any hesitation, it was
quite a natural thing ! But some went also beside. In the end of the afternoon, I put the same "tunnel" between the kitchen and the
dining-room, but with no way to go beside. They played too to climb on a trolley.
of them had some difficulties to find how to go through. Then, in the yard, they went away from the veranda, following me anywhere. They
came back through the rack to come into the veranda, some came in and out of the veranda several times.
generally didn't have droppings in their playpen but they did as soon as they were out, so just near the door of the veranda, and in this place
it's not easy for me to pick up. I stayed with them, and the A-s too, then I had something to do inside my house during a few minutes : they
didn't notice that I had disappeared during a few minutes ... They were very busy to discover the whole yard, and they weren't alone with the
A-s. From the veranda, I put a long object so they had to go under it to come back ; then I opened the door of the veranda and called them :
Bocquefeuille came under the obstacle without any hesitation, then Brinskhi did the same, then Brevillenne did too, later Brehael did the
same too, but Borkye stayed in the other side, without coming under. I lifted up a little the obstacle and showed him what to do, and he
came under the obstacle (about 6 cm ). In the end of the afternoon, I did the same with the carrier box, and I disappear with discretion
during a longer time, I didn't hear anything from the yard (where the A-s were too). They came into the veranda without obstacle but they had
to go through the cardboard "tunnel" between the kitchen and the dining-room. In the evening, I put them again in the carrier box and then in
the yard, with the light because the night was complete, but they didn't mind at all. They had to go inside the cardboard box to reach the
dining-room, but they simply pushed the box !
